Abstract

The loss of biodiversity groups such as mammals is today one of the main challenges to be assumed by governments worldwide, especially when faced with global change scenarios with the capacity to enhance the adverse effects on the planet's biodiversity. Representing the reality of ecosystems from dimensions other than the taxonomic is fundamental to understand their functioning, which is why concepts such as functional diversity can have a high impact on the way of analyzing and managing the territory. Applying scientific bases to policies, plans and local management actions is fundamental to conserve not only species but also the functionality of ecosystems. For this reason, the objective of the project is to determine spatial changes in the current and future functional diversity of mammal assemblages under different climate change scenarios to evaluate their applicability in conservation through territorial planning in protected areas. This research will show the representation of functional diversity of mammals in protected areas at the departmental scale, thus allowing to demonstrate its applicability as a planning and conservation tool through the concept of climatic refuges.
