ANALYSIS OF THE STATE OF THE ALBANIAN ECONOMY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE GLOBAL INSTABILITY AND THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract

This article analyzes the state of the Albanian economy in the context of instabilityand the COVID-19 pandemic. The main focus is on the challenges faced by Albaniaunder the influence of the strong earthquake in 2019 and the coronavirus pandemic in 2020,and the assessment of their impact on the country’s economy. As a confirmation, statisticaldata stating the negative impact and expressed in negative economic indicators are provided,in particular GDP, inflation, unemployment, public debt, budget deficit and etc. Measuresaimed at stabilizing the country’s economy in the context of global instability are considered. As the results of the study showed, Albania, being a small open economy with limitedeconomic diversification, remains largely exposed to various external and internal risks. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Albanian Government is actively workingto support the country’s citizens and restore the economy, but it will be possible to assessthe effectiveness of the measures taken only after some time.
