Based on the results of the Cornet project eco2cut models, methods and tools for a sustainable improvement of the energy efficiency and productivity in production companies were developed. A structured continuous or temporal collection of energy data lays the basis for an identification and validation of improvement activities. The top-down and the bottom-up approaches were refined from the company level to the machine and process level. The factor energy was added to a material flow simulation. The generated monitoring data builds the basis for the simulation in which the influence of different factors like batch size, set-up-time and cycle time to the energy efficiency and productivity were investigated. In consideration of the requirements of an energy management system the results were tested in practice.
