An Overview of Used-Products Remanufacturing

Abstract

La remanufactura es una actividad de producción importante, impulsada principalmente por las regulaciones ambientales cada vez más estrictas impuestas por los organismos gubernamentales, la creciente conciencia de los clientes sobre el medio ambiente verde y los beneficios económicos potenciales de la remanufactura. En este documento, se examinan los factores motivadores clave para que las empresas participen en el programa de remanufactura. También se examinan las principales fuentes para adquirir productos usados y los mercados posteriores para vender productos remanufacturados. Lo que es más importante, se examinan los procesos de remanufactura de clave genérica y se destacan las características únicas correspondientes. Se presentan cuatro ejemplos de proceso de remanufactura de diferentes productos para demostrar que el número exacto y la secuencia del proceso de remanufactura dependen en gran medida del tipo de producto que se está remanufacturando. En resumen, este documento presenta una descripción general de la remanufactura de productos usados, que de muchas maneras beneficiaría al público en general, al medio ambiente, a los fabricantes/remanufacturadores, así como a los investigadores.

La réusinage est une activité de production importante, qui est principalement motivée par les réglementations environnementales de plus en plus strictes imposées par les organismes gouvernementaux, la sensibilisation croissante des clients à l'environnement vert et les avantages économiques potentiels de la réusinage. Dans ce document, les principaux facteurs de motivation pour les entreprises à s'engager dans un programme de réusinage sont examinés. Les principales sources d'acquisition de produits usagés et les marchés ultérieurs pour la vente de produits réusinés sont également examinés. Plus important encore, les processus de réusinage génériques clés sont examinés et les caractéristiques uniques correspondantes sont mises en évidence. Quatre exemples de processus de réusinage de différents produits sont présentés pour démontrer que le nombre exact et la séquence du processus de réusinage dépendaient en grande partie du type de produit en cours de réusinage. En résumé, ce document présente un aperçu de la réusinage des produits usagés, qui, à bien des égards, profiterait au grand public, à l'environnement, aux fabricants/réusinage, ainsi qu'aux chercheurs.

Remanufacturing is an important production activity, which is mainly driven by the increasingly strict environmental regulations imposed by governmental bodies, growing customers' awareness of green environment and potential economic benefits of remanufacturing.In this paper, the key motivating factors for companies to engage in remanufacturing program are examined.The major sources for acquiring used-products and the subsequent markets for selling remanufactured products are also examined.More importantly, the generic-key remanufacturing processes are examined and the corresponding unique characteristics are highlighted.Four examples of remanufacturing process of different products are presented to demonstrate that exact number and sequence of remanufacturing process largely depended on the type of product being remanufactured.In sum, this paper presents an overview of used-products remanufacturing, which in many ways would benefit the general public, environment, manufacturers/remanufacturers, as well as researchers.
