In this study, we analyze the mechanism of the future change of a occurrence frequency of Guerrilla-heavy rainfall in the Kinki region in August by focusing on the future change of lapse rate and water vapor inflow using a 5km-mesh regional climate model (RCM05). From the analysis, we show the frequency of days will increase when Showalter Stability Index (SSI), which expresses atmospheric stability, becomes lower in the Kinki region in late August although lapse rate will decrease. Lower SSI means that atmosphere is unstable. Then we show that the reason of destabilization of SSI is the increase of water vapor in lower layer. Finally, we use Self-Organizing Map (SOM), which is one cluster classification method, to reveal the main reason of the increase of water vapor in the lower layer in late August. The results show the wind field which blows from the Pacific to the Kinki region is increasing, and this explains rich water vapor flux is supplied to the Kinki region.

In this study, to utilize palm oil methyl ester (PME) as a diesel fuel, the engine performance and exhaust emissions for PME are investigated using a DI diesel engine compared with rapeseed oil methyl ester (RME), soybean oil methyl ester (SME) and gas oil. As the results, PME has shorter ignition delay compared with RME, SME and gas oil. Brake thermal efficiency with PME is about the same as those with RME, SME and gas oil. NOx and Smoke emissions from PME simultaneously are lower than those from gas oil. Therefore, PME can be used as an alternative fuel of petroleum diesel fuels.

There are electric cooperatives in the Yakushima island, but it is exceptional in Japan. In the U.S., there are more than 900 electric cooperatives serving 37 million people and supplying 10% of total electricity sales in the US. Electric co-ops are forming decentralized power supply system in the rural areas. It is compatible with nature of renewable energy, then electric co-ops are actively promoting renewable energy, because the introduction of renewable energy contributes both environmentally and economically for the consumers in the rural areas. Electric co-ops are playing a significant role in the promotion of renewable energy in the US. The experiences of US electric co-ops are very suggestive for the introduction of decentralized sustainable power supply system into eco-villages in Japan. ; 協同組合,再生可能エネルギ-,持続性,エコビレッジ

The functional model is a modeling method which defined more clearly than before the function of each part unit and the flow of the energy transmitted in them. In this research, it tries to express movement of two link arm in the two dimensional plane by the functional model. Furthermore, the validity of the control system design in the functional model is examined by building into the model of two link arms.

A sustainable building steel structure system, which is kind of damage‐controlled structure, consists of columns, beams and newly developed connections with buckling‐restrained braces like knee brace. The columns and beams are connected with special long steel bars alone, facilitating demolition of the structure and able to be reused the members.Since the connections of beam‐to‐column are semi‐rigid, the columns and beams suffer no damage. The buckling‐restrained knee braces only absorb seismic energy. In the past studies, full‐scale tests of the connection were carried out.Based on these results, structural models, which modeled the connection were analyzed and a mechanical model for the sustainable building structure system was established. In this paper,a structural design method is proposed on the previous experimental and analytical studies. The detail design method for the newly developed connections with buckling‐restrained braces is established.A trial design is conducted where applicablity of the design method is shown.
