Abstract The impact of a twisted turbulator in a parabolic solar collector on the improvement of thermal–hydraulic performance (THP), as well as energy and exergy Efficiency of MgO-Cu/water hybrid nanofluid (HNF) is numerically evaluated. The main goal of this study is to use a twisted turbulator with pitch ratios (γ) of 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 for Reynolds numbers (Re) of 8000 to 32,000 and volume fractions (ϕ) of 1, 2, and 3% of MgO and Cu nanoparticles. Numerical simulation findings are reported in the form of graphs of average Nusselt number (Nuave), pressure drop (Δp), THP, energy Efficiency ( η c ) , and exergy Efficiency ( η ex ) . It can be concluded that Nuave and Δp depends on ϕ and Re and augments linearly with their values. Moreover, Nuave and Δp increases significantly by increasing the pitch ratio of the turbulator. The results revealed that the maximum values of augmentation of η c and η ex are respectively 23.79% and 21.15% by raising Re from 8000 to 32000. In a SC with a turbulator with γ = 2 and ϕ = 3%, η c is raised by 24.16% by increasing Re from 8000 to 32000; while, in the case of γ = 2.5 and ϕ = 3%, η c is enhanced by 18.2%.

The main target of this research work is to model the output performance of adsorption water desalination system (AWDS) in terms of switching and cycle time using artificial intelligence. The output performance of the ADC system is expressed by the specific daily water production (SDWP), the coefficient of performance (COP), and specific cooling power (SCP). A robust Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) model of SDWP, COP, and SCP was built using the measured data. To demonstrate the superiority of the suggested ANFIS model, the model results were compared with those achieved by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) based on the maximum coefficient of determination and minimum error between measured and estimated data in addition to the mean square error (MSE). Applying ANOVA, the average coefficient-of-determination values were 0.8872 and 0.8223, respectively, for training and testing. These values are increased to 1.0 and 0.9673, respectively, for training and testing thanks to ANFIS based modeling. In addition, ANFIS modelling decreased the RMSE value of all datasets by 83% compared with ANOVA. In sum, the main findings confirmed the superiority of ANFIS modeling of the output performance of adsorption water desalination system compared with ANOVA.

Viewing a computationally-intensive problem as a self-contained challenge with its own hardware, software and scheduling strategies is an approach that should be investigated. We might suggest assigning heterogeneous hardware architectures to solve a problem, while parallel computing paradigms may play an important role in writing efficient code to solve the problem; moreover, the scheduling strategies may be examined as a possible solution. Depending on the problem complexity, finding the best possible solution using an integrated infrastructure of hardware, software and scheduling strategy can be a complex job. Developing and using ontologies and reasoning techniques play a significant role in reducing the complexity of identifying the components of such integrated infrastructures. Undertaking reasoning and inferencing regarding the domain concepts can help to find the best possible solution through a combination of hardware, software and scheduling strategies. In this paper, we present an ontology and show how we can use it to solve computationally-intensive problems from various domains. As a potential use for the idea, we present examples from the bioinformatics domain. Validation by using problems from the Elastic Optical Network domain has demonstrated the flexibility of the suggested ontology and its suitability for use with any other computationally-intensive problem domain.

Crystalline features, microstructure, and surface morphologies of the synthesized samples were examined via X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer. Elemental distribution was studied by energy dispersive analysis of X-ray spectroscopy. Polycrystalline of rhombohedral crystal structure was observed for the concerned samples. Perfect crystallinity and micro-scalability of the prepared were also reflected by the physic-chemical properties of each sample. Thermal behavior was studied throughout differential scanning calorimetry and thermo-gravimetric analysis showing that the samples are of high stability over high temperature range. Physic-chemical properties were determined in terms of experimental density. These properties were compactness value, molar volume and the percentage of free volume. Density of Bi2Se3 alloy was obtained at 7.37 gm/cm3. The Te doping enhanced the density of the Bi2Se3-xTex system. The most Te doped alloy showed density of 9.018 gm/cm3. All other physic-chemical properties showed strong dependence on the Tea amounts in the system.
