Prevalence and intensity of endoparasites in cutlassfish (Trichiurus sp.) at fish auction landing Panarukan Situbondo District and Muncar Banyuwangi District, East Java Province
Abstract Cutlassfish (Trichiurus sp.) is a kind of marine fishes has become an important economic commodity from several countries in Asia. The research was done to analyze the prevalence and intensity of endoparasite that infect cutlassfish (Trichiurus sp.), and to compare the prevalence and intensity of them at fish auction landing in Panarukan Situbondo and Muncar Banyuwangi, East Java Province. The method used in this research was an observation. The total of samples taken was 162 fishes. The average size of the examined cutlassfish is 56.47 ± 12.80 cm. The results showed the endoparasite that infects cutlassfish were Anisakis simplex and Camallanus carangis. The prevalence rate of endoparasites at fish auction landing respectively in Panarukan and Muncar were 23.46% and 13.58%, both of them were in the same category, often. The value of the intensity of endoparasite worms respectively in Panarukan and Muncar were 1.53 and 1.1 and both of them are also in the same category, low. Based on the Chi-square test stated that there was no significant difference (p>0.05) in the prevalence and intensity of endoparasite in both places.
