description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Bachelor thesis 2013 ColombiaPublisher:Universidad EIA Authors: Santa María Vélez, Federico;85 páginas ; This paper contains a research to determine if it is possible to generate electricity in a dairy farm located in Santa Rosa de Osos, Antioquia, with the biogas obtained from an anaerobic process of the manure of five thousand (5.000) pigs feeding at the dairy. A comparison between the theoretical composition of the biogas and the composition of the obtained samples is made, following by an analysis of the power within the biogas and then various technics for power generation are evaluated in order to select the appropriate one for the requirements of the dairy and the restrictions of the biogas. After choosing the generating technic and equipment, a system is required that allows switching between the generator and the electricity from the Power Supplier starting at the same voltage and frequency. ; Pregrado ; Ingeniero(a) Mecatrónico(a)

[EN] In the Zacatecas region of Mexico, food dehydration is essential to reduce post-harvest losses but relies mainly on fossil fuels such as fuel oil and LPG, which entail high costs and significant CO₂ emissions. This study, conducted as part of the ADSIDEO project, explores the transition to biomass burners and boilers as an alternative to fossil fuels to reduce production costs and environmental impact. It identifies local biomass sources, assesses their energy potential and availability, and analyses conversion costs and environmental effects. The study compares the technical performance of biomass burners with that of fossil fuel burners, demonstrating that biomass can offer comparable efficiency while reducing CO₂ emissions. In fact, through this study, we have shown that CO₂ emissions can be reduced by around 80%. Economic and environmental analyses show that using agricultural residues as a source of biomass represents a promising solution for more sustainable food dehydration. By replacing fossil fuels, this approach not only reduces post-harvest losses, but also boosts the competitiveness of the region's agri-food industry. The study estimates that, with 65 dehydration plants, the region would need about 815.830 GJ of energy per year from local biomass, avoiding the tCO2 emissions associated with the use of fossil fuels. In addition, available biomass waste could provide around 1.500.000 GJ of energy, contributing to a cleaner and more efficient energy transition.

; The objective of this essay is to look for possible answers to the question: How will the houses be designed for future pandemics?

ABSTRACT : Climate is an element that influences the social structure of communities grouped in towns and cities. However, at the global level, it is undergoing significant changes associated with the increase in greenhouse gases, which have an impact at the local level, generating new territorial dynamics that exacerbate existing ones (economy, means of production, health, natural resources, among others). Although these phenomena are widely studied in large cities, at the level of intermediate and small cities or communities, their study is not yet relevant. Therefore, in this research, we intend to describe the impacts and risks of climate change through a case study of the Andean region applied to the municipality of Pasto (Colombia), with an intermediate city that houses more than 80% of its population, located in the Pastos node of the Andes Mountains, with a mountain morphology and high slopes, which makes it susceptible to climate change. The trajectories identified follow quadratic models, i.e., small changes in the temperature and precipitation variables produce significant changes in the urban variables (the impact grows exponentially). The proposed methodology consisted of using the structural analysis method to recognize and establish the causal relationships of the elements that systemically describe the development of the municipality. Subsequently, with the stability test, we identified that the time series of temperature and precipitation for the period 2006-2019, changed significantly with respect to the period 1976-2005, which allows us to infer that a change in the local climate is taking place. Hence, with the available information, the causal relationships identified, and the correlational method, we mathematically defined the relationships between climate and urban variables in the period 2004-2019, in order to recognize the trajectories followed by urban variables impacted by climate variability. Finally, based on the correlation models and the climate change scenarios, we designed a stochastic model with Bayesian networks that allowed us to predict the risks of urban variables in the short (2011-2040), medium (2041-2070) and long term (2071-2100), where the most compromised elements are those related to water availability, agricultural production, food security, disasters (floods, landslides and forest fires) and public health.

[EN] The present final degree work consists of the design of a 570 kWp self-consumption photovoltaic installation without surpluses on the roof of a company in the food sector located in Pinto (Madrid). The design of the plant is based on the client's consumption curve, with the goal of adjusting the installation to the company's energy demand. Additionally, the possibility of including electric vehicle charging points in the parking lot will be evaluated. The simulation of the production and operation of the installation is carried out using the PVSyst software, and the results are used to perform the corresponding economic analysis. The type, quantity, and orientation of the necessary photovoltaic modules are analyzed, as well as the inverters required for connection to the electrical grid. Finally, the project is developed, including all essential elements for its execution, such as the components, budget, safety measures, and detailed plans that allow for a clear visualization of the photovoltaic installation.

We will start talking about the role that teachers play in this process since, in order to generate change, you must first start from education, here we will explain the methodologies that must be used to carry out a good learning process. In which future professionals take responsibility for the environment, the good orientation and distribution of the spaces, taking into account the needs of the family in the event of preventive isolation. Therefore, we will proceed to mention the housing typologies that are most effective in counteracting a future pandemic. Among these typologies are sustainable and ecological housing, which will be analyzed in every way (definition, approaches, similarities and differences) and then reach the conclusion in which we will tie all the ends, demonstrating the results of our approaches. ; Castillo, Patricia ...
